Company Overview
The American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut and American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Connecticut (collectively, ACLU-CT) are nonprofit, nonpartisan organizations dedicated exclusively to preserving and enhancing individual freedom and civil liberties throughout the state of Connecticut. Through advocacy, communication, legislative activity and litigation, the ACLU-CT works to preserve and enhance liberties grounded in the United States and Connecticut constitutions, the Bill of Rights and civil rights laws. Among these liberties are separation of church and state, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association, the right to privacy, reproductive rights, due process of law, and the right to equal treatment under the law.
The ACLU-CT, 65 years old, is the state’s premier public advocacy organization. Based in Hartford, it has an operating budget of approximately $1 million. The organization is led by a 30-member board of directors and a staff of eight.
