Boys & Girls Village, a Non Profit Children and Family Services Agency servicing children and families in at-risk situation. Our mission is to service our children and families by strengthening their ability to succeed in life.
As a leader in services for troubled youth and their families, we continually strive for the best systems of care. Boys & Girls Village offers a continuum of programs for boys, girls and their families. These programs include; In-Home Services, Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services, Clinical Services, Kids INN, Day School, Foster and Adoptive Placement, Safe Homes, Case Management, and Extended Day treatment. Our population consists of severely emotionally disturbed, abused, neglected children and families. Clients are served in the least restrictive environment to allow them to maintain community ties. Our broad range of programs and services are designed to work collaboratively with families, state and local agencies, and other community providers. Boys & Girls Village is committed to improving communities through support and aid to families and children.
Company History
Boys & Girls Village, Inc. was founded as the original "Boys Village" in 1942 by New Haven County High Sheriff J. Edward Slavin and Daniel J. Adley, a principal in a major Northeast trucking firm based in New Haven.
Founded as a "work farm for first-offenders," the agency has served a coed population of boys and girls since the mid-1980s and we changed our name to "Boys & Girls Village" in June 2002.
Today, Boys & Girls Village is a federal IRS approved 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit agency licensed by the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) for our residential and therapeutic treatment components, and by the Connecticut Department of Education for our Day School for children with special educational needs. Referrals are received from DCF, managed care companies and from public school systems.
