Higher Edge, Inc.
Company Overview
Higher Edge has a singular and critical purpose: empowering low-income, first-generation students to enter, succeed in, and graduate from college.
Company History
Higher Edge operates two high quality, sequential programs. The College Access Program (CAP) guides 12th graders to navigate the admission process and enter college. When students enroll, they transition into the Success Program, which provides holistic support to ensure they persist and earn a degree.
Founded in New London in 2011, CAP began with a pilot group of six students. Today, with the addition of a second site in Windham, 69 high school seniors are participating in CAP and 175 college students are participating in the Success Program. Higher Edge will serve 300 students annually by 2020. Most importantly, overall outcomes are outstanding:
97% of participants enroll in college
To date, 24 Higher Edge students have graduated from college, earning degrees from schools including: Connecticut College, Eastern Connecticut State, Rochester Institute of Technology, UCONN, and many more. Twenty-nine students are expected to graduate in June 2019.
