Company History
KNOX was founded in 1966 when city councilwoman Betty Knox established a trust to help improve and beautify the city of Hartford. Since its founding, KNOX has been a key partner in improving the city and is a nationally recognized leader in the field of community greening. Highlights of our 50-year history include establishing Hartford's first community garden, helping to develop both the American Community Gardening Association and Connecticut Community Gardening Association and developing the region's only conservation corps at the time (now the Green Crew AmeriCorps Program).
